Fikra has no sign-in. It never asks for your email or phone number, and the first name it may ask for stays on your iPhone.

What stays on your phone

The cards you read and when you last opened each, your practice and streak, what you save, your notes and collections, the first name, subjects, goals and depth you gave, and your settings are stored on this iPhone, shared only with Fikra's own widget. Like other app data, they are part of your iPhone's backup if you use one. The developer has no server that receives them.

Usage data, sent to PostHog

Unless you turn off Share usage data in Fikra's Settings, under About, Fikra sends short records of how the app is used to PostHog, a product analytics service. Fikra's records are stored in PostHog's EU cloud, in Frankfurt, Germany. The developer reads them to see where new readers stop during setup, how the membership offer is received, which subjects and cards readers spend their time on, and which paths to write next.

A record is sent when:

• Fikra is installed, and each time it is opened;
• a setup step appears, and when setup ends, with the subjects, goals and depth you picked and whether you turned on a reminder;
• the membership offer appears, and what you do with it: which screen opened it, the plan you pick, starting a purchase and whether it completed, was cancelled or failed, closing the offer, and restoring a purchase;
• you read a card for the first time, save or unsave a card, answer a Short, master a card, finish a quiz, open a path, or finish the day's cards;
• you vote for a path on the roadmap, or take a vote back;
• Fikra asks the App Store for a review or suggests the widget, you decline the widget, or a Fikra widget appears on your home screen;
• the app crashes.

Each record carries what happened and when; the card, subject or path it concerns, as an internal code; a random id created the first time Fikra is opened on this iPhone; and a session id that changes when you come back to the app after a while. It also carries the app's name, version and build, the language you use Fikra in, whether you are a member, whether setup is finished, how many days since Fikra was installed, your App Store country, and device details that PostHog's software adds: the device model, iOS version, screen size, language and region setting, time zone, and whether you are on Wi-Fi or a mobile network. A crash report adds where in Fikra's code the crash happened.

A record never carries your first name, anything you type, your notes or collection names, the text of a card, your email or Apple account, your payment details, or an advertising identifier.

What PostHog can and cannot tell

Fikra never tells PostHog who you are, and it asks PostHog not to build a profile of you. The random id is the only thing that groups the records from one install, and it is not linked to records from any other app. Like any request over the internet, a record reaches PostHog from your network address; Fikra asks PostHog not to use that address to work out your location.

Deleting Fikra deletes the random id, and installing it again starts a new one.

Why, and on what basis

Usage data and crash reports are processed on the basis of the developer's legitimate interest in understanding how Fikra is used, fixing what breaks and deciding what to build. You can object at any time by turning off Share usage data, which stops all of it. PostHog processes the records on the developer's behalf and does not sell them or use them for advertising. They are kept only as long as they are useful for improving Fikra.

Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. Fikra never sees your payment details. It only learns from Apple whether this Apple account has an active membership.

Reminders

The daily reminder and the trial reminder are scheduled on this iPhone as local notifications. No server sends them.

Sharing and links

When you share a card, it goes to the app you choose, and that app's own policy applies. Links to read more open in your browser.

No ads, no tracking

Fikra shows no ads, does not use an advertising identifier, does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and does not sell your data.

Your choices

Turn off Share usage data in Settings, under About, and Fikra stops sending records at once, crash reports included. Turn it back on and it starts again.

Reset progress in Settings clears your reading record on this iPhone. Deleting Fikra deletes everything it stored on this iPhone, including the random id. Records already sent are tied only to that id, which Fikra does not show and cannot trace back to you, so the developer has no way to find yours to delete them.

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other servers.
